Gaia Engineering

Match data for amateur football. Cooling powered by heat.

Gaia Engineering and Technology is an Istanbul-based engineering company working on two technologies: Pitch IQ, a computer vision platform for amateur football pitches, and zeolite coatings for adsorption cooling systems.

In development

Pitch IQ: the match data professionals get, for every halı saha game

Every evening, amateur 6 and 7-a-side games are played on artificial turf pitches across Türkiye, and almost none of them leave any data behind. Pitch IQ uses computer vision on match footage to track players and the ball and turn each game into statistics players can look back on.

Team ATeam BBall

Player and ball tracking

Computer vision models detect and follow each player and the ball across the whole match.

Match statistics

Tracking data becomes player and team statistics such as movement, possession and key events.

Built for amateur pitches

Designed around the cameras, lighting and pitch sizes of real halı saha venues, not stadiums.

Patented technology

Cooling driven by heat, held in zeolite pores

We develop zeolite coatings for adsorption chillers and heat pumps that run on solar thermal energy and industrial waste heat instead of electrically driven compressors. The work grew out of research at Istanbul Technical University and, since 2023, has been developed further with CNR Italy and an industrial partner in Germany.

How adsorption cooling works

  1. 1

    Evaporation

Water evaporates at low pressure and draws heat from the space or fluid being cooled.

  2. 2

    Adsorption

The zeolite coating takes up the vapour, keeping the pressure low so evaporation continues.

  3. 3

    Regeneration

Low-grade heat from solar collectors or waste heat streams drives the water back out of the pores.

  4. 4

    Condensation

The released vapour condenses and returns to the evaporator, and the cycle starts again.

Why the coating matters. How fast heat and vapour move through the adsorbent sets the power density of the whole machine. A thin, well-bonded zeolite layer grown directly on the metal surface shortens these paths compared with loose grains or pellets.
